Demulcent<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Demulcents<\/strong> have a <a href=\"http:\/\/thenaturopathicherbalist.com\/herbal-actions\/b-d\/demulcent-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">soothing action on tissue<\/a>, particularly mucous membranes. They help to coat inflamed tissue with mucilage (thick plant matter) to soothe it. This can be very helpful for <em>sore throats<\/em> and <em>irritated stomachs<\/em>. Examples of <strong>demulcent<\/strong> herbs include <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/marshmallow\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">marshmallow<\/a> (the plant, not the s&#8217;mores ingredient), <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/slippery-elm\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slippery elm<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/licorice\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">licorice<\/a>, and corn silk. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedplantsavers.org\/slippery-elm-ulmus-rubra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Slippery elm is considered an at-risk plant<\/a>, so use it sparingly, if at all.<\/p>\n<h1>11. Diuretic <\/h1>\n<p><strong>Diuretics<\/strong> increase the production of urine. <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/dandelion\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dandelion root<\/a> is a fantastic, widely available, cheap <strong>diuretic<\/strong>. Just be sure you are getting <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">dandelion<\/span> that has been organically cultivated or wild harvested from an area that has not been treated with chemicals. <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/cleavers\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cleavers<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/uva-ursi\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">uva-ursi<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/green-tea\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">green tea<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/juniper\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">juniper<\/a> are other <em>natural diuretics<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h1>12. Emmenagogue<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Emmenagogue<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/abc.herbalgram.org\/site\/PageServer?pagename=Terminology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">means regulating menstrual function<\/a>. Some <strong>emmenagogues<\/strong> include <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/motherwort\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">motherwort<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/dong-quai\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dong quai<\/a> (angelica), <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/sage\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sage<\/a>, parsley, and rosemary.<\/p>\n<h1>13. Expectorant<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Expectorants<\/strong> help to create <a href=\"http:\/\/www.herbaled.org\/Education\/Articles\/cough_fs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more productive coughs<\/a>, getting excess mucous out of the lungs during an immune imbalance or seasonal congestion. Some work by <em>thinning mucous<\/em> so it is easier to cough up. <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/mullein\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mullein<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/elecampane\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">elecampane<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/lobelia\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lobelia<\/a>, Iceland moss, and <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/thyme\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thyme<\/a> are all <strong>herbal expectorants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h1>14. Hepatic<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Hepatic<\/strong> is a general term meaning &#8220;of or related to the liver.&#8221; They can tone, strengthen, and improve liver function, sometimes by increasing bile production. <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/dandelion\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dandelion root<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/milk-thistle\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">milk thistle<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/artichoke\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">artichoke<\/a> are all <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>hepatic herbs<\/strong> that improve liver function<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h1>15. Hypnotic<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Hypnotic<\/strong> herbs are also sometimes called &#8220;<strong>soporific<\/strong>,&#8221; but don&#8217;t be confused, they mean the same thing. <strong>Hynotic herbs<\/strong> help induce sleep, and can be very helpful in the treatment of <em>insomnia<\/em>. They can work on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthy.net\/Health\/Article\/Hypnotic\/1487\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nervous system, as muscle relaxants, or through other means<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/valerian\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Valerian<\/a>, passionflower, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/hops\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hops<\/a>, and California poppy are all <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">hypnotic herbs<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h1>16. Hypotensive<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Hypotensive<\/strong> herbs lower blood pressure. <strong>Hypertensive<\/strong> herbs, which raise blood pressure, exist too, but Americans more commonly look to lower their blood pressure. Some <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><em>hypotensive herbs<\/em><\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthy.net\/Health\/Article\/Hypertension\/1283\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">include<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/hibiscus\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hibiscus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/hawthorn\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hawthorn<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/linden\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">linden<\/a> blossom. Interestingly, <a href=\"https:\/\/peachvitamins.com\/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&amp;path=449&amp;resource=\/us\/assets\/nutritional-supplement\/stevia\/~default\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stevia<\/a>, a natural sweetener, also has some hypotensive effects; this can make it a great remedy for someone who has hypertension, high blood sugar, and a sweet tooth. It is far sweeter than sugar, so it can be used sparingly.
